RH: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, accompanied by a delegation, arrived today in the city of Godey within the Somali Regional State. The delegation was warmly received by the President of the Somali Regional State, Mustafe Cagjar, along with other senior officials from his administration.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Godey aims to inspect various development projects in the Shabelle region, some of which have already been completed. Notably, this includes the West Godey Irrigation Project, which has undergone extensive rehabilitation and upgrades under the Ethiopian Federal Government.
During his visit, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed officially inaugurated the West Godey Irrigation Project in the Beercaano district. The project, with an investment of nearly 3 billion Ethiopian Birr, encompasses approximately 10,000 hectares of agricultural land. Currently, around 3,000 hectares are under cultivation, producing key crops such as maize, wheat, sorghum, and various types of vegetables.
